When you are
designing for your own home it is the small points
that make all the difference. In our consultation
with customers we listen carefully. We try to
build a common picture. Design becomes a two-way
process in which both participate.
This project involved the refurbishment
of an historically interesting house. The present
owners wanted a modern kitchen – but they also
wanted something that would be sensitive to the existing
atmosphere. After careful consideration they selected
a charcoal grey granite – a granite
that has the smartness of absolute black,
but with an additional starring and grain that gives
it life. They also decided on a hand-carved and hand-polished
finish. The sleek modern lines of this design could
easily look mechanical and hard – but here
the hand-finishing softens the overall effect. The
basin and drainer were the customer’s own design.
We suggested the hand-chiselled outside to the basin – for
an effect that is relaxed, without being rustic.
